Once the prosperous capital of Alexia, Nia-Agliare is located on high cliffs overlooking the Bay of Shallows, and it is connected to the wider Chrysanthemum Gulf through the deepwater ports of Whitemist Harbor on Archer Sound. Center of activity of some sort new and expansive Protester faith and the Sorcerer Queen. Militarily Nia-Agliare is not super impressive, but the forces they have are top quality. In addition to the paladin order that operates as a direct branch of the faith, the Bog Wraiths - a mercenary company headquartered in Nia-Agliare that had close ties with the church before defecting during the Scism has sworn allegiance to the Sorcerer Queen and provided her their arms and loyalty.

History

A port city with a long reputation for lawlessness, crime, and piracy. After the collapse of Alexia as nation-state it was ruled for decades by a merchants' council that was simply a front for the ???, a powerful and ruthless thieves' guild rumored to be headed by vampires, shadows, or some sort of other mysterious dark power.

Lady of Light started talking and preaching.

On 1 New Year's Festival 1513 FI, the Neo-Alexandrians arrived and the entire guild was murdered and their bodies displayed publicly. The next day the Lady of Light established order and the day following that she introduced the Sorcerer Queen and gave all church personnel within the city the option to convert or leave. Almost all of them as well as most dwarves left to the Temporal Authority or Gildenhome across the gulf. A trade embargo was imposed shortly thereafter.

Government

Commerce

Nia-Agliare does not have access to the rich forests of Old Fresia or trade from the East, as the Eastern Church and Gildenhome have implemented an official embargo against the upstart heretics and block nearly all trade from the Greenhusk River. Although a small forest has appeared on the eastern edge of the Valley of the Sidhe, it is said to be cursed and loggers do not dare venture into it. The ever-expanding desert has long made getting enough food for the city an issue, but despite the embargo the new Church is able to provide food in abundance (rumored to be through magical/divine means). Since the Dwarven Lords don't really have a major naval presence, Nia-Agliare mostly relies on maritime commerce for its needs. There are always, of course, ever-present rumors that the Church and Great Lords are building a siege fleet on the Eastern coast of the Gulf that will blockade the city into oblivion, but no such fleet has shown up in almost two years now.
