Appearance
Shamyl is a large 25 year old human man with very bushy hair and beard. Despite his size he is very nimble and quick on his feet.
Background
Early Life
Shamyl was born in Spring of 1490 in Southwatch. His mother is a charismatic Ulani barbarian turned civilization-preaching paladin/priest, the Holy Lady Vi Bhurkoy, who leads a large prosperity-focused congregation, the Order of the Hammer, which has many connections throughout the northern Ulani tribes as missionaries as well as a large trading company. Shamyl's father was Stilga Afra Bahrbelama, a Peteran merchant whose operations were based out of Southwatch. Stilga died when Shamyl was in his early teens and left control of the company to one of Shamyl's older full-blooded Peteran cousins. Shamyl is the 3rd of 4 children between Vi and Stilga. After his father's death the Holy Lady Vi married a Fresian trade official, Adalbert "the Fowler" Ringelheim, who was appointed by the Emperor to oversee the Ulani trading operations and they had 3 additional children. Shamyl never fit in with either his siblings or younger half-siblings, every single one of which became some combination of bard, priest, or paladin while Shamyl never did well in any training except fighting and wrestling. Shamyl still can not hold a tune or even keep a beat, but he can usually knock down and pin even larger, stronger adversaries in a fight. His studies in scripture and preaching were dreadful and he showed absolutely no magic talents with regards to divine or arcane magics. Throughout his childhood he frequently got in fights and tried to run away several times.
Once he reached his teens Shamyl went to work for one of his cousin's caravan companies and quickly showed skill at working the caravan routes. He was bad at numbers and bargaining, but was a good rider and scout and his strength and arms training came in handy many times. He immediately came to love traveling and exploring and now becomes agitated when forced to stay anywhere more than a few days. This desire to never stay still has led to him quitting and changing jobs several times and hurt his ability to hire on with better caravan companies.
Current Life
Shamyl did not retain much of his education regarding religion but is still quite devout in his own manner, praying several times a day and believing that Alexandria personally grants him super-human strength and the power to smite Her enemies. He is not able to quote the Testimonials or debate the differences between Orthodox Alexandrianism and Zupanism, but he starts every day by reciting Her words of "Long Live The Fighters". While he does occasionally communicate with family through letters or magic couriers he has not been to Southwatch or seen anyone in his immediate family in several years.
Hooks
Shamyl has recently parted ways with a caravan company and is looking for a quick pay day and often on the move. He is likely to gravitate to protecting and following orders from any clerics or religious paladins.
