Prophecies of Alabar Tremaline
A series of cryptic writings and prophecies by the sage Alabar Tremaline who was a witness to the end of the Battle of Sacrifice in 2975 BI where the Eight Makers removed themselves (or were removed) from the Material Plane and the Demi-Pantheon were empowered. Said to be the only mortal surviving eye-witness to of the climax of that battle as the other survivors became the newly empowered Demi-Gods, Tremaline was blinded and cursed with visions of the future and in some traditions is said to have seen the full scale and stream of creation and time in that instant (including even this very wiki entry). This of course left him quite mad and permanently broken and difficult to be around so he was interred in a magical prison by followers of those new Powers and spend the rest of his life obsessively and unceasingly scrawling out the Prophecies in his own blood and waste on bed sheets and walls. Most of these writings that survived describe ancient times or foretold a hero who would one day rise to battle the Dark Fiend. No canonical version of the full prophecies survived even by the time of Alexandria, though some sequences and information about the Prophecies were fairly well-known historically due to references in the Commentaries, some of which have remained foundational texts in both arcane and divine magical studies dating back to the earliest written records. Alexandria's place in those prophecies is discussed in the Testimonials and even more in depth in Apologies of Antioch which is mostly concerned with Antioch's realization and acceptance that he was not the one foretold in the Prophecies as he had believed and worked for most of his life, but Alexandria was the Prophesied.
Copies of the Prophesies which have been mentioned in the historic record or player campaigns
- Antioch's Edition: The version of the prophecies assembled by Antioch the Apologist and The Stand. Prior to the end of the Prophets' War and Antioch's recognition of Alexandria, the Sorcerer-King believed himself to be the subject of these prophecies and spent most of his life trying to fulfill them. Presumed lost, or else in the possession of the Gnomes following their re-settling of Hakan after Antioch stepped down and Alexandria ordered the Human settlers removed in 19 BI.
- ???? Edition: Recovered by Gnob's Folly from an ancient ruin on a far island and fell into the possession of Edrell.
- Edrell's Edition: the edited and annotated edition of the ???? version combined with whatever other scraps he had gathered.
- Probably some Elven version
- Probably some Dwarven version
- Almost certainly several different versions held in the deepest darkest vaults of Alexandria's City and known to only a select few Wardens
