First Families of Wydmoor

The First Families of Wydmoor are the ruling nobility of the Wydmoor City region. They are led by a hereditary Duke or Dutchess of the Mead family who resides in Wydmoor Castle. The Five Counties themselves are ruled by a hereditary Count or Countess, each of which command the loyalty of a small coterie of lesser nobility.

Duke

• Mead Family, who control the Far Fields across the Wydmoor Swamp.

Count

• Wydsomme Family, who control the lands to the South of Wydmoor City to the Crestfall Forest.
• Riddermark Family, who control the Riverlands south and west of the city.
• Tell Family, who control the lands south of Wydmoor Swamp.
• Othelio Family, who control the Wydmoor City as well as the lands north to the Bloodmane Hills.
• Anser Family, who control the Annex, in the far southwest including the city of Turstram.

Baron

• The mayor of Moyria's Crossing has the title of Baron even though it is a democratically elected position. As long as there is order and tax revenue, the city is allowed a good deal of autonomy. That does not mean the Duke or Dutchess have been shy about leading forces to depose uncooperative or disloyal Barons. There are multiple example of this in the past century since the Reclamation.
