Mattiverse Next - Session 3

FIRST DRAFT

Crossing the mountain

• Cart is broken down, keeping its hardest-to-craft parts but removing extra bits
• Climb up is first severely hot, then severely cold, taking several days
  • Exhaustion checks every few hours.
  • Bobwhite gets hypothermia one night, the next day we burn some cart and make a shelter to wait for better weather.
• Next day they keep going, find a game trail.
  • Decide to spend some time following goats. Get hides and food for the effort.
• Continue past the highest point of the trail.
• Shortly after, meet two hobgoblins who don't immediately eat them.
  • Invited to hang out, and they accept. Long story short, they are Gubbites.
  • They get a nice bath, they drink some weird-ass stuff, Bobwhite pukes everywhere, Banner and Four come out with a curse, it was a hell of a trip.
  • The curse compels Banner and Four to seek out someone who has never heard of Gubism every day in civilization. It also gives them the ability to take monk levels, without meeting any prereqs.
• The Gubbites give the party some nice winter clothes and send them on their way.
• Down is much faster than up.
• Very near the bottom, they find tracks. MUST FOLLOW
  • Halflings with ogre zombie pets. The ogre zombies are in terrible shape.
  • Each halfling wears a papier-mâché helmet with a circle cut out in the front. Their faces are painted white within the circle, with a black area in the center.
    • (it is supposed to look like a beholder. It definitely looks weird)
  • One has a fancier helmet with more stalks than the others. The things at the end are evidently some kind of consumable.
  • Party wrecks some dead ogres, kills a couple of halflings (kinslayers!!), and Banner repeatedly pushes the head cultist off cliffs until he dies. Also, Bartley makes up a sick pun.
