To the wizard, the world & everything in it is a mystery waiting to be solved. Knowledge is paramount and skill in wielding it conveys power. What the wizard does with that power defines them.
Arguably the most difficult magical path to master, Wizards are scholarly magic-users capable of manipulating the structures of reality through disciplined study of the arcane.
 
To the greatest wizards, the world and everything in it is a mystery waiting to be solved. Knowledge is paramount and skill in wielding it conveys power. What the wizard does with that power defines them.
 
While there are no doubt a great many hedge wizards in the Mainland, most true wizards of any power and prestige studied at one of the great [[Universities]]. Likewise, the time and expense required to follow this path often preclude all but the wealthiest and most connected individuals.
