This serves as a suit of hide armor, crafted from the skin of some dragon relative (likely a hydra or dragon turtle). It statistics are identical to hide armor. In addition, its AC bonus is conferred whenever its wearer changes form into something else, such as through Wild Shape or a polymorph spell.
