Massive scaly primordial creatures of primordial magic.
According to official Alexandrian doctrine, the first True Dragons existed as primal elemental and magical forces from the beginning of the Primal Age with most being killed during the First War and the last (the remaining four Great Wyrms of the Earth (chromatic) and the Quicksilver Dragon (metalic)) were slain by Alexandria and The Stand in the latter part of the Prophets' War. Some lesser dragon species are extant on the Mainland such as the Dragon Turtles of the Wydmoor Swamp as well as more mundane creatures of limited intelligence such as wyverns.
