Notes

Onrarch Landing

  • The bookstore is quite busy, full of human patrons. The bookseller, like most proprietors in town, is a Boat Halfling.

  • Conversation ensues. The bookseller generally gives answers that imply he doesn't really keep track of books in extremely fancy cases. The party doesn't buy it.
    • Joana eventually "convinces" the bookseller to open up. He says the books are already "home". The patrons start perking up at this conversation.
    • Joana asks for a private conversation in the backroom. The patrons finally drop the ruse, and start punching. They punch very hard, and very fast (monks!).
  • A hectic melee ensues. Joana, Therunin and Elian all spend time making death saves. All the martial artists have the Mage Slayer feat, which Joana discovers with much dismay means they get opportunity attacks on spellcasting within melee. There are also "assistants" to the bookseller who are actually casters of endurance-sucking rays and various cantrips.
  • The bookseller fucks off.
  • Eurasmus mostly stays put like a good boy. He does get a surprise knife in the back, but the party makes the perpetrator pay for that crime.
  • The combat is tidied up. Likely, authorities are on the way. Whip surmises that the bookseller had an escape route, and follows him down an obvious hatch.
    • It's a room with a tub. The tub ends up having a water weird, which smacks the crap out of Therunin and grapples Whip within an inch of his life.
    • Therunin glances into the next door. She sets of (and resists) a trap, and also sees something skittering with too many legs and glowing eyes. She closes it immediately.
    • The party finishes off the weird and decides to book it.
    • Joana picks a chest on the way out. It's silverware. They leave it.

Back to Wydmoor

  • Party skedaddles to Wydmoor and gets there in the evening.
  • Head immediately to a cathedral. Nobody obviously recognizes Eurasmus on the way, luckily.
  • Convince the priest to hold on to them while they arrange something safer than "probably having his throat slit by the Thieves' Guild in a police cell".
  • While they're getting that together, it's SHOPPING TIIIME (with the money that they clearly don't need to buy back the books with anymore).
