An alternate plane of existence that served as the prison of the Dark Fiend and the site of the final battle of Alexandria's Crusade. With the death of the Dark Fiend and the Martyrdom Blast, the Kingdom of Shadow was largely destroyed, although occasionally it does still affect the prime material plane.
Little is known about the mechanics of the Kingdom of Shadow, called by some sages the demi-plane of shadow, but according to contemporary accounts of Alexandria's Crusade, it was a place of confusion and illusion, and no two people perceived the realm in the same way.
Some more reckless schools of magic are said to access this plane for the purposes of fast traveling or dark illusions.
It is unknown if the rare encounters with Dreadplanes occur in the diminished Realm of Shadow, shards broken off of a greater Realm, or some other occurrence altogether.
