All cultures that spend any time above ground see their own shapes when looking at the stars, but the wandering Halflings and the maritime Elves of the Old World are the best known for their complex relationship with the sky. Of the two, the Halfling Zodiac became the Zodiac of the Ubrekti Empire, and thus, is the most commonly known set of constellations on the Mainland.

Formerly, it lined up perfectly with the Standard Calendar, but the intervening ~1500 years have seen some drift.

The signs are the DOG, the BARGE, the DRAGON, the LANCE (or CROSS), the WARRIOR, the SERPENT, the RAT, and the DRUID,

By the calendar:

  • SPRING: Dog, Barge
  • cusp - river dragon
  • SUMMER: Dragon, Lance
  • cusp - dog rider
  • FALL: Warrior, Serpent
  • cusp - nest (hearth)
  • WINTER: Rat, Druid
  • cusp - werewolf

Each sign has its associated astrological significance, which the Halflings still observe and record, in addition to being used for hedge diviniations.
