Notes

The party strikes out south into the Ulan chasing rumors of an active mithril mine.

After a couple of days, they encounter a friendly tribe of the Ulan periphery led by a trader named Qweego who is known to Quynh. ("$" marker on map) 2018-06-09 15-40-35.png

Qweego hasn't heard anything about mithril mining, but has noticed increased Orc activity. Qweego somewhat jokingly suggest going to see the Jarl Kaga, a powerful solitary hag queen who is said to know everything that goes on in the area but who is more likely to kill and eat anyone who tries to contact her than help. However she may be persuaded to share information if the party can present her with an item of sufficient power. Qweego's grandmother traded a powerful magical tribal artifact to Jarl Kaga many years ago in return for a magical cure for a terrible sickness that the tribe's shamans could not cure. Kaga did honor the trade and the cure was successful, but the loss of the artifact led to the tribe's weakening and near dissolution. Qweego is able to describe how to reach Jarl Kaga's dwelling (marked as HAZARD on map below) 2018-06-09 16-37-19.png

The only other source Qweego suggests is a distiller who knows a lot about the hermit community around Handlestadt (the "!" marker on the map). Luckily this turns out to be PD Pete who the party has already befriended and saved from orcs. The party choose the option that is less likely to murder and eat them and make their way back towards Pete's house. En route they stop to rest near a small pond and are set upon by a group of bandits who are quickly and efficiently dispatched.
