tactics

More of a melee tank than a blaster/controller with most spells focused on buffing/healing/utility including several rituals as well as ability to use and scribe scrolls and create mundane objects frequently. Tier 1 hit enemies with hammer or cantrips at range or Booming Blade at melee or Word of Radiance if surrounded. Good AC but MAD so poor hitpoints/concentration and not great DCs or spell attacks so choose half damage on save offensive spells. collect all the scrap metal and magically turn it into platinum and trade goods

feat choices and alternates

advancement

  • leveling all cleric going forward
    • level 4: Cleric 2 - Channel Divinity(magically transmute metals, turn undead, refresh spell slot(s)) once per short rest, 2nd level slots (no 2nd spells yet), +1 Cleric spell prepped
    • level 5: Cleric 3 - 2nd level spells, cantrip damage and proficiency bonus increase
    • level 6: Cleric 4 - Feat (Crusher, +1 Strength and pushback on bludgeoning attacks)
    • level 7: Cleric 5 - Destroy Undead, 3rd level spells
    • level 8: Cleric 6 - Channel Divinity now 2/short rest, Soul of the Forge (resistance to fire damage and another +1 AC to heavy armor)
  • purchases/crafting:
    • plate armor asap (has proficiency to make it and will be able to turn other scrap metals into materials for crafting with 1/short rest channel divinity power but will still be expensive and take weeks of downtime)
    • not as bad as a wizard, but can still easily burn through all income just creating scrolls. 1st level spells are 25gp and 1 day of work. try to stock all party members capable of reading one with a Cure Wounds scroll at all times and try to keep on hand at least a few less commonly needed but possible emergency spells like Detect Magic, Disguise Self, Faerie Fire, Feather Fall, Purify Food and Drink, etc depending on which spells and rituals other party members have available.
