Although in the past Elves were quite numerous, occupying significant portions of the Mainland especially among the large forests that used to cover the North, they have almost entirely fled the Mainland roughly two-centuries before the Alexandrian advent after a popular uprising of Humans and Half-Elves deposed the ancient monarchy and succeeded in killing most of the Elven royal family.

The Sidhe (elves) have since been entirely isolated to their home isles of Sidhe-Praxen. By the time of the Alexandrian Advent, the Sidhe had established themselves as a formidable naval power with a close relationship to Odessa, whose old royal family were related distantly to the Elven royals. The Sidhe were among Alexandria's most zealous followers during the Prophet's War and Alexandria's Crusade which followed.

The Sidhe expended a great amount of blood in these two conflicts and likely were close to extinction by the end of the conflict. Perhaps this contributed to the elven withdrawl from the mainland politically, economically, and socially. Today Sidhe-Praxen remains a hermit kingdom with little central authority and little development. The number of elves in the known world is believed to be quite small, probably in the low five-figures, and is assumed to be stagnant if not in decline. They conduct only the most limited trade, and outsiders are forbidden in all but one elven city. Elves, likewise, are forbidden from leaving, and those who do are never allowed to return.
