Red Wizards

A powerful faction of Peteran specialist wizards that make up one of the "Three Pillars" of Petaran society, with the other two being the merchant houses and the aristocracy. They are an important part of Petaran's military might, as they are also the only source of gunpowder on the continent, as well as masters of the advanced metallurgy required for the barrels. They fiercely protect these secrets. The cannons and magic they provide are the basis of Peteran Navy superiority and are all magically stamped with serial and tracking sigils to prevent them into falling into the hands of outsiders.

The Red Wizards also operate the Empire's intelligence networks and often send spies disguised as traders into the Mainland, and rare is the Petaran exclave that lacks a Red Wizard of some competence.
