Assumed power after the assassination of Gladros Sablehand, who had not yet named a successor. Ratnot stumped hard against the unknown gnomish assassins until he was made Arch-Warden. He swiftly undertook a shadow campaign against non-Halfling Curia members in an attempt to claim total control of the church for the Halfling Hand. In this attempt, he was unsuccessful.

This is the origin of Six-Fingered Hand, as the church loyalists who proved decisive in the Shadow Interregnum combined to form the White Hand of the Halflings.
