Cinder's vendetta against the gnolls eventually took him out of the Scar and into more civilized areas where he would occasionally use his hunting and wilderness skills to trade for goods. He mostly kept to himself, but would occasionally join small groups if he learned they were planing to attack goblins or gnolls and even occasionally worked as a scout for caravans in areas that saw frequent servitor raids. Though he is not very comfortable around others or in settlements, he has found such work to be fulfilling and life outside the Scar to be much easier than how he grew up. He has no plans to ever return to the place of his birth.

Cinder with a lance

Appearance

Cinder is short and wears armor that has clearly been damaged and repaired many times. He is often rather dirty and spends most of his time outside and appears uncomfortable in towns and crowded areas. He is rather shifty-look and usually has multiple weapons on his person including a long narrow spear that's nearly thrice his height.

Background

Out from the Scar hunting goblins and gnolls. He hates goblins and gnolls.

Early Life

Like many of the wild gnome clans of The Scar Cinder's parents and family marched in the Dissent March of the Wild Gnomes. Unlike the many that then resettled to the islands, his clan returned to the tough and sometimes precarious existence of life in a monster-infested wasteland they had known for generations. Cinder's childhood saw his clan slowly lose territory and struggle to survive as a result of Goblin raids, lack of food, and the near total collapse of the occasional outside trade that many of the wild gnomes depended on for metal tools and weapons and magical supplies. From an early age Cinder learned how to hunt and scavenge, how hide when needed, and how to track and ambush in retaliation when possible. Shortly before Cinder reached adulthood a large pack of gnolls led by the evil, heavily-scarred, and foul-smelling No-Nose Filthcloak began leading raids against gnomes and dwarves who lived in the border areas. Years of small skirmishes and raids only came to an end after Cinder along with every remaining able-bodied gnome in his and a few other nearby clans successfully ambushed and crushed a much larger gnoll force. No-Nose Filthcloak and his gnolls were almost entirely destroyed, but most of Cinder's clan, including their druids and all of Cinder's immediate family were wiped out as well. Some of his clan joined with others to form a new clan and continue the traditional hard Scar life, but Cinder instead set out to track and kill the remaining gnolls who fled. The next few years of his life were almost entirely solitary except for dogs and other occasional animal companions as he hunted down gnolls.

Current Life

Cinder's vendetta against the gnolls eventually took him out of the Scar and into more civilized areas where he would occasionally use his hunting and wilderness skills to trade for goods. He mostly kept to himself, but would occasionally join small groups if he learned they were planing to attack goblins or gnolls and even occasionally worked as a scout for caravans in areas that saw frequent servitor raids. Though he is not very comfortable around others or in settlements, he has found such work to be fulfilling and life outside the Scar to be much easier than how he grew up. He has no plans to ever return to the place of his birth.
