Notes

Pete and Bashir

The group find their way back to PD Pete's without further incident, but arrive late enough in the evening that Pete is too inebriated to answer many questions. Luckily Pete is not alone as Batshit Bashir is there attempting to play dragonchess with Pete. While Pete soon passes out the group tell Bashir about the rumors of the mithril mine. Bashir does not know the location but claims that he could locate it through magical means though he would need a magical abjuration item to feel safe doing so. Luckily he knows of a ruined and sunken casino nearby which is likely to have such an item as part of their security measures to prevent magical cheating. While he can not say for sure what it will look like or where precisely it will be in the ruins he describes it as likely being large and heavy and radiating a powerful abjuration aura. Bashir believes that the casino has remained unexplored but likely infested with "all sorts of nasty things" and that the section of the ruins that remains above ground has become the roosting area for some sort of large flying monstrosity. The party agrees to retrieve the magical for Bashir and he proceeds to pull out a silver dagger and jests about entering a blood oath but instead gives the dagger to Thola with warning about looking out for lycanthropes. The group spend the night at Pete's cabin and set out the next morning for the ruins.

Spielhalle Ruins Exterior

Bashir's directions prove easy to follow and the party locate the ruins. The site of the gaming hall has mostly sunk into the ground after The Calamity but a large rotunda and some walls remain above ground.

 

The group fails to approach with stealth and are attacked by large monstrosity which flies around shooting spikes while the party returns ranged fire and Cinder and Wolf try to get close enough to melee attack. A wild magic surge from Thola results in the manticore fleeing in terror from the sorcerer. It flings a few more tail spikes then hides behind a wall where Wolf finishes it in a gory fashion.

 

Unterirdisch Spielhalle

After a short rest Wolf then Thola use a rope to climb down the 30' drop from the rotunda to the sunken floor of the game hall. Sunlight from above lights up the center of the room but leaves the corners in shadow. Before the rest of the party can join them Wolf steps into the darkened part of the room and is immediately attacked by undead shadow creatures.

 

It becomes apparent that the shadows are weakened in the sunlit area of the room and Wolf and Thola manage to survive the shadows' attacks and get back to the light while the others shoot at the shadows from above. After finally finishing off the shadows the rest of the party (including Bob the Dog) make their way down the rope into the abandoned gaming hall and begin exploring the wing where a sign indicates the VIP gambling rooms and administration areas are located.
