Notes

The crew approaches a cavern and sneaks inside. Only to be spoken to in their minds by the Pastor, who transformed is now calling himself The Reckoning.

"I don't know why I dreaded this. Like all growth -- it was painful at first. The apotheosis is complete. After I kill you, I shall dispatch the Emissary and end the blasphemy." "You could just leave now. My understanding is you are accomplished runners. Leave now with your lives, leave me to finish the Monstertown stain."

He ambushed the party with a mind blast that stunned Thola, and then ate two smites from Wolf before casting some major juju and disappearing.

The cave was the home of some troglodytes who are now dead and missing their brains. We find a pile of excrement and vomit and ichor.

Gorra sends a message to the emissary: "Beware, powerful rogue element is coming for you, hard. We're in pursuit but have lost the trail. Where are you? We want to help." And gets a message in response: "The creatures finally send their assassin, then? They shall be dealt with and your loyalty shall be rewarded. Come to me at sends waypoint."

The Mountain Peak

The party makes their way to the peak of the mountain.

The view is tremendous -- you can see the Caldera Lake valley and Monstertown quickly being bathed in the last light of the setting sun. On the Eastern face of the mountain, you see nothing but blackness -- The Scar, the wasteland of Gildenhome. No fires burn, no lights, no settlements, nor any water to reflect the stars above... not that you can see them. Over the course of the day, a thick cover of clouds began to fill the sky. Once or twice as you march, through the cloud cover, you get the sense of some colossal beast's shadow against the clouds below it. Its appearance fills you with a sense of dread.

It is early evening by the time you reach the waypoint. What appears to be the ruins of an ancient and long forgotten Dwarven stronghold. The Dwarves' craftsmanship is as true as any, and the fortress is surprisingly intact despite its age and the changing topology. A large set of stone doors has been carved from the rock face. Each stands 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide.
