The Standard Calendar is the accepted method of yearly chronography in the Mainlands, although it is not used in Petera. The current time reckoning starts with the inception of the Alexandrian Church, however, the Standard Calendar is largely an updated version of the pre-Alexandrian lunar calendar.
The 299 day year is broken of into 8 months of 32 days, which alternate with 5 day long liturgical/festival periods. Finally, the new year is celebrated with a three day religious celebration that occurs at the start of spring that is not part of any month or liturgical period.
Neither weeks, nor the individual days of weeks, have names. Days are referred to, for example, as "first day", "second day," etc. When notated, the convention of the mainland is to distinguish the day, followed by the month and year, as follows:
"15 Verdant 1394 FI" would be the fifteenth of Verdant, 1,394 years from the inception of the church.
Each month is separated into 4 weeks of eight days. Spring generally runs from Renewal through the end of Verdant. Cleansing or Summercusp through Supplication usually marks summer. Autumn generally is Harvest through Wintercusp. The Fast of Anticipation tends to mark the beginning of winter.
The Calendar runs as follow:
New Year's Festival
1st Period: Period of Renewal
1st Month: Heavenfall (Spring Rainy Season)
2nd Period: Festival of Rebirth
2nd Month: Verdant (Spring Bloom)
3rd Period: Period of Cleansing
