The Grateful Dead Should Rest Below the Ground spent most of their childhood in a small band of "Ghost" halfling nomads who scavenged the mostly abandoned and destroyed towns of Fresia. When they were lucky the small villages and towns were truly abandoned. When they were unlucky they instead found ruined cities full of undead or bands other monsters. From a young age Grateful was frequently around death and undeath.
