Alternate
- ranger variant changes from the UA in TCE make this no longer viable as Favored Foe now requires concentration and Tireless isn't available til Ranger 10.
Level Plans
- Levels 5-10: order subject to change
- Barbarian 3: Berserker for Frenzy with 1/short rest exhaustion removed by Tireless feature
- Ranger 3: Gloom Stalker for more dark vision/hiding from enemy darkvision, probably take Primal Awareness over Primeval Awareness
- Ranger 4: Feat/ASI
- Ranger 5: Extra Attack, level 2 spells
- Barbarian 4: Feat/ASI
- Ranger 6: Deft Explorer: Roving - walking speed increases by 5, and you gain a climbing speed and a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.
- Levels 11+: Probably mostly ranger, maybe barbarian up to 6 for speed, mindless rage, an extra rage/day.
- Feats in likely order: Resilient: WIS, Mixed +1 STR/+1 DEX or one of the +1 STR weapon UA feats like slasher/crusher or Grudge-Bearer, STR ASI, CON or WIS ASI
Tactics
Melee damage-focused with lots of HP and pretty good AC and good saves and resistances to tank. Few ranged options other than javelins, but eventually enough speed and climb/swim to chase stuff down. Start 1st round with extra movement and extra attack whenever possible and either hunter's mark or rage as bonus actions. Choose mostly non-concentration spells to not interfere with rage/frenzy but still able to cast Hunter's Mark once or twice per day without concentration or use of slot. Tireless to wipe out the exhaustion that usually makes Frenzy not worthwhile.
