The Grateful Dead Should Rest Below the Ground spent most of their childhood in a small band of "Ghost" halfling nomads who scavenged the mostly abandoned and destroyed towns of Fresia. When they were lucky the small villages and towns were truly abandoned. When they were unlucky they instead found ruined cities full of undead or bands of other monsters. From a young age Grateful was frequently around death and undeath. Grateful did also spend some time in more proper civilization and after waking alone and gravely injured briefly they briefly lived with a Wytchfinder Family-adjacent sect who saved their life. Grateful quickly became unhappy with some of the group's methods and felt the strong pull of wanderlust so just walked off one day and never looked back. There was likely some arson involved too. | |||
