Over the Mountain and Through the Woods

  • They ask some questions of Alarick's corpse.
    • [ED: insert answers and questions here once i get chatlog, at least one key takeaway is that any Goodly Races who exist in this realm mostly do so at the pleasure of Mother Lorinda]
  • They give him a proper burial, accelerated greatly with mold earth. Peter spits on the grave.
  • The party votes to take the shorter-but-probably-harder path through the mountains.
  • A few days pass in travel through rugged terrain. The views are breathtaking: Valleys to the South, a Lake to the West, snow-capped peaks to the Northeast
  • They reach a gorgeous, snow-fed lake. They move to rest by it, but Bern spots that there are a few dozen tiny, invisible creatures hanging around that might be indisposed to their presence. They give them a pass.
    • Madrin sees they are some sort of gremlin looking creatures.
  • It gets very cold as they get higher up. They have to slow down to handle levels of exhaustion from the cold.
  • It mostly just takes time. They make it through to the valley that Peter thinks has the Inn they seek.
  • Reaching the lake, they're about to follow it Northward, when they notice a cave system.
  • Reasoning that the fae they seek lie underground, they might as well check it out.

Cave Dive

  • Peter holds the lantern of revealing and is told to not expose himself to anything too crazy.
  • A short ways in, they encounter a mess of corpses, including one of a dark-skinned elf. There are no markings on any of the bodies.
    • Two very fancy daggers stand out.
    • Whip moves in to investigate. A series of holes sucks are in a whistle, stopping his lungs from working. In a mild panic he searches the body, forgoing some care. He comes back with the two fancy daggers, and a scroll.
    • The daggers are not magical, but are clearly valuable. He hands one to Bern and keeps the other. The scroll, he hands to Madrin.
  • They continue into the cave. A chasm filled with fog cuts off one passageway. Following it the other direction, they find a room.
    • It is very cold, -30 degrees F. The ice is thick, and easily supports their weight.
    • Despite its incredible sturdiness, the party avoids the ice regardless. Bern notices corpses in it, but nobody else manages to make them out.
  • Session ends here.
