The Regents War was a war of succession in [[Odessa]] fought between [[Prince-Regent Tennyson VII]] and his brother [[Prince-Regent Aden I]], both children of [[Queen Eloise III]]. It was a short and divisive civil war that many believe was influenced heavily by foreign powers in the backdrop of the [[Schism Wars]]. The Queen's armies were victorious after little more than a year of conflict in 1405, and Prince Tennyson assumed the regency.

			==Background==

			During the years preceding the Regent's war, Odessa was in a complicated political situation, with Prince Aden ruling the country as regent and the Queen-Mother declared mad and imprisoned. Aden, a brash and youthful ruler, was focused on military expansion, and had raised taxes and alienated many noble houses in this pursuit. Many believe he was only able to retain power due to the support of [[Hedrifax Kaine]], the mysterious centenarian adviser to the King. This military expansion culminated in the [[Sack of Wydmoor]] in 1402, at which point Arch-Warden [[Marrwyn Collar]] declared a [[Collar's Crusade \| crusade]] against Odessa and Price Aden.

			Two years after the Crusade began, Kaine was assassinated, and a group of powerful Odessan nobles and merchants freed Queen Eloise and declared war on Prince Aden. Most believe that no group in Odessa was powerful enough to challenge Kaine, and that his assassination was executed by foreign powers, likely acting in conjunction with the Arch-Warden. While free, the Queen remained in the background, and the war was waged in the name of her younger son and Aden's brother Prince Tennyson, who was only 15 at the start of the war.

			Due to Aden's lack of popularity and the loss of his chief adviser, opposition forces quickly rallied to the Queen's banner.
